The Experience

Do you love the flavors of Vietnam and wish you could replicate them to impress friends and family back home? These cooking classes created by former MasterChef Australia judge, Luke Nguyen and his partner Bien Nguyen, inspired by Vietnamese street food, will take you on a cultural and culinary journey of Vietnam. Each menu has been designed so that even the most amateur cook can easily recreate these recipes at home with confidence.

Detailed itinerary

Monday - Saturday

9:00 AM - 12:00 PM / 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM

With both Chinese and French influences, Vietnamese cuisine is some of the most delicious and refined in all of Asia. Inspired by all these different flavors, each four-course menu has been carefully designed by Luke himself, and are changed every quarter, as they’re based on the seasons in Vietnam and which ingredients are available at the time. So pick your favorite, and get ready for a hands-on cooking experience like no other!

With our fully-equipped cooking stations, and professional instructors to expertly guide you through the history and preparation of each course, it doesn’t matter your age or skill level, everyone can get involved. We even have child-friendly cooking equipment and staff to supervise any session with children.

We have a fully-loaded pantry on the premises, stocked every morning with fresh produce from local suppliers - and it’s from here that you will pick your own ingredients for these mouthwatering meals. Not only will you learn how to prepare and present your food like a pro, but you’ll also learn about the history and inspiration behind each specific dish and how it ties in with Vietnamese culture. Each class can host 18 to 40 aspiring chefs, and with a cash bar on site, it promises to be quite the social experience!

However, if you’re looking for something special, you can try a private class, which can be customized for different occasions such as anniversaries, birthdays etc.

At the end of the class, you’ll be able to create and present a restaurant quality four-course meal! And as if that wasn’t rewarding enough, you’ll also receive a certificate to say you’ve successfully completed the class, and you get to take home the recipe so that you can show off your own Masterchef skills at home!

Binh our cooking class teacher and his team were brilliant. It was such a great morning learning to cook Vietnamese food and learning more about their cuisine. It was a fantastic way to finish our trip to Vietnam. My husband enjoyed it as much as me.

I went with three girlfriends and we had an absolute blast. we cooked three dishes and had a dessert that was prepared for us. Really enjoyed my time here and have cooked one of the dishes on my return to Australia for my family.

Refined experience. Top notch. When this cooking class offered me wine pairings, I knew it would be special. And what a way to enjoy a class. For each course that we cooked, a new white wine. My only request was that they include a regional wine or even rice wine, or regional vietnamese liqueur. The wines were all excellent, with generous pours, and clearly were well thought out to pair with the foods we created. A highlight of this special class are the runs to the “pantry,” yes just like an episode of Master Chef. It gave us more intimacy and connection with our ingredients, especially all the leafy, aromatic veggies that are such a mainstay of vietnamese cuisine. Our class wasn’t taught by Luke the tv personality, but by Binh who was thorough and charming all his own. A cooking class is a serious time investment when you’ve got a short visit. So many sights to see outside. But, when a class is run like Grain’s class, by introducing you to why each ingredient is used, and why the vietnamese love their flavors and how they achieved such balance, you realize that more important than many museums or palaces is a proper introduction to the food that sustains a people. GRAIN does a perfect job of hosting you, and giving you great insight into a food culture that is intertwined with the history and topography of a land, like none other. My suggestion: take this class at the front end of your trip to Vietnam or Saigon. The things you learn in this class will enrich every meal you have in Vietnam afterward!!!
