The Experience

Ho Chi Minh city, or Saigon as preferred by many people, has always been a travel hub. Once regarded as the jewel of Far East, Saigon has a lot to offer for tourists. From the famous Independence Palace to the magnificent Notre Dame cathedral, there is no shortage of things to see. However, beside those typical tourist attractions, there are a lot more to explore about Saigon. This tour is born from the desire of a local person who wants to show international friends true heart and soul of the city. From the hidden aspect of history to the bustling local life, from the sacred temple to delicious cuisine, we've got you all covered!

Detailed itinerary

Onetrip’s Saigon-in-Depth tour can be enjoyed in two ways: by riding pillion on a motorcycle, or by taking a private car. And, you can choose your preferred time as well: choose the morning hours from 7:30 AM to 1:30 PM, or take an afternoon tour from 12:30 PM to 6:30 PM.

Morning itinerary:

7:30 AM

We will pick you up at your accommodation, after which we’ll go straight to one of our favorite spots for a local breakfast of champions. With renewed energy, you will visit the Nguyen Thien Thuat Apartment Complex, an Oasis of old Saigon right in the heart of modern Ho Chi Minh City. Visiting this place will be a great way to get to know more about our Vietnamese culture and understand how 3 generations of a family can live together in one single flat.

A 5 minute stroll will take us to the Ban Co Market where you can experience the vibrant and authentic local market life. You’ll have a chance to buy some fruit at this market that will later serve as dessert for lunch.

Next up is a stop at the Cheo Leo Cafe where we’ll enjoy a Vietnamese coffee before we take our motorbikes to a weapons-concealing bunker - an unusual yet fascinating insight into the history of Saigon. And yes, we’ll make sure you get to have the opportunity to crawl inside the bunker. In that same spirit, we will pause at the Thich Quang Duc statue to relive one the most emotional moments of the war. After all that, the beautiful Jade Emperor Pagoda is our last stop before having lunch.

11:45 AM

There is no better way to taste real Vietnamese food than with a home-cooked meal. Dishes vary by day, but could include… And of course, let’s not forget to enjoy the fruit that you have bought at Ban Co Market earlier!

1:00 PM - 1:30 PM

We will arrive back at your accommodation. Don't forget to give our guides a hug and keep in touch. It will be an experience to remember and we hope you will leave with a new friend made.

Afternoon itinerary

12:30 PM

We will pick you up at your accommodation. First things first, we take a ride straight a local family’s home for home cooked for lunch. Prepared by a few olderVietnamese ladies, we believe the delicious food will fill your stomach, while their hospitality will warm your heart. A great way to gain energy for the amazing adventure ahead!

The beautiful Jade Emperor Pagoda is our first stop after lunch. After spending around an hour here, we will go to the Nguyen Thien Thuat Apartment Complex. On the way there, we will stop by Thich Quang Duc statue to relive one the most emotional moments of the war. To help you understand even more, our next stop is a weapons-concealing bunker which is an unusual yet fascinating insight into the history of Saigon. And yes, we’ll make sure you have the opportunity to crawl inside the bunker.

Heading back, we’ll return to the apartment complex and explore this place a bit more in-depth before taking a walk to our favorite Cheo Leo Ca Phe to try some true Vietnamese-style coffee.

Fully energized, we will take advantage of the afternoon timing to have some food, as most street food places Saigon will open around 4pm. One of those places is the Ho Thi Ky Flower Market, which is not only known for its fresh flowers but also for a surprisingly wide selection of Vietnamese food specialties. Let’s give them a try before heading home!

Huge advantage to go with a well informed local guide.

Lunch in a Vietnamese home was excellent - best ever meal in HCMC.

Thong, Coy, and Tim did a fabulous job driving us around Saigon on scooters. This excursion is a MUST when visiting Ho Chi Minh City. Their enthusiasm and knowledge was surpassed only by their navigation and driving skills. Don’t let the traffic scare you. Thanks, guys!!!!!

Order through Christina's for 2 person but end up only i go alone. But this 2 young guy still doing their job very professional. We visit the oldest coffee shop, reunification palace, remrants museum, the pagoda (oldest temple in saigon) and it all while heavy rain! They still doing their job with happy heart (and so am i) I'm very glad to meet them on my trip and sure will suggest anyone to go with them while in Saigon. Don't mind the crazy traffic, trust them, just laugh if u scared
