What exactly is a Sous Chef?

THE JOI FACTORY VEGETARIAN KITCHEN (House) is looking for a Sous Chef for its new opening restaurant.
JVK aims to bring the freshest ingredients from organic local farms and trustworthy providers to the heart of vibrant Saigon metropolis city, a real Farmer to Chef to Guest experience.

  • Our chefs and cooks need to be open minded to a modern kitchen yet natural cooking make up, ranging from east to west in a continuous search of inspiration from ethnic cuisine of the world (Vietnamese, Asian, Middle Eastern, Mediterranean, South American, etc..).
  • Restaurant and café opening hours cover breakfast, lunch, dinner, all day bistro/snack bar.
  • Position open to any genders, nationality and religion!
The must-haves:
  • The applicant must possess a minimum of 3 years’ experience with cooking, being committed to work in a dedicated and conscious vegetarian/vegan kitchen.
  • It is envisaged that the role will commence after a training and qualifying period together with the Head Chef.
  • To be passionate about creating quality creative vegetarian food, keeping up the standard guidelines and concept philosophy, working as a part of a like minded team, stimulate, encourage and boosting improvement and growth of junior members. Self growth, showing the right attitude and being constantly hungry for new knowledge.
  • To be knowledgeable of kitchen equipment cooking techniques, quality control, hygiene procedures, ordering processes, reduction of food waste management, team training & management, kitchen maintenance.
  • Fluent English Required and Vietnamese is a must!
  • Punctuality, Teamwork, Leadership Skills, Precision and Hygiene !!
What can you expect to be doing…
  • Full-Time - 5 days a week, work on Saturdays and Sundays, Straight and Split Shifts.
  • To ensure supervision of kitchen operations and assignment of tasks/duties to junior members
  • To act on behalf of the Head Chef for communication between teams, anytime required accordingly with duties, instructions and “house rules”.
