Hue cuisine has a plethora of flavors and textures unparalleled anywhere in Vietnam. And while it’s a near impossible task to cover each and every specialty the Imperial City has when you’re stopping by for a short visit, we’ve taken on this challenge of bringing you the best dishes that Hue has to offer. And while there are countless ways of exploring the city, the striking charm of Hue can only be matched by our stylish Vespas. You’re in for an exciting gastronomic ride so get your tastebuds and bellies ready!
Our food adventure begins with cocktails or cold beer at a local cafe. From here, we’ll take a short walk to a banh beo restaurant where you’ll have your first taste of the famed Hue cuisine. And while there’s a lot to a name, the imperial cuisine isn’t so much about fine dining, rather it’s best enjoyed in humble restaurants off the streets, where you can sit comfortably, eat and drink unhurriedly, and watch the city slowly transform in the after-hours.
Discover the delights of riding through the city on our vintage Vespas as we slide past the mass of tourists, drive along the historic Perfume River bathing in dusk, and make our way to our next stop. A food trip in Hue is never complete without the classic Hue-style grilled pork skewers and Vietnamese pancakes so make sure you get your fill.
By this time, the dark has settled in and the city lights have turned up. You’ll climb on the back of our vintage bikes once again and cruise along the walls of the Citadel. While the ancient complex stands majestic at day, it takes on a different sparkle after the sun sets and illuminates details most of us may have missed at daylight. Don’t hesitate to ask for a stop and get yourself some nice snapshots!
At our next destination, we’ll take you on a culinary challenge with some dishes you might have never come across in your life (but only if you dare to try!). Have a particular dish from this region that you’d like to sample? Let us know in advance and we’ll help you tick that off your bucket list!
There’s no better way to end the evening than on a sweet note. Take your pick and help yourself to some Vietnamese desserts loved by many. After an evening of taking your palate out on a ride, we’re sure this will hit the spot.
Better come with a big appetite because we’ve planned this trip with a hungry foodie in mind!
