The Experience

Escape momentarily from the busy city life, and see Hoi An through a different perspective as you explore the around the countryside on a bicycle and later, paddle along the De Vong river on a wooden sampan.

Your journey will be as authentic as it gets. Not only will you get to interact with local farmers and fishermen, and learn about their lives, but you will also get to do some farming and fishing yourself! Come experience the real beauty of Hoi An on this fun, adventurous and activity-filled tour!

Detailed itinerary

8:00 AM - 11:30 AM / 2:30 PM - 6:30 PM

You can opt for either the morning tour which begins at 08:00 AM and ends at 11:30 AM or the evening tour that lasts from 2:30 PM - 6:30 PM.

You will be picked up by our guides at your accommodation and taken to the green, clean and picturesque Tra Que vegetable village where most of the vegetables and herbs you find in dishes served throughout Hoi An are grown. Here you can get your farming skills on and pick your own veggies - which will later be used for lunch/dinner. Don’t be afraid to get your hands muddy!

You will then get on a bicycle and ride through this tranquil village, past rice paddies, gardens and ponds and watch as the local farmers cultivate, care for and harvest their produce. Not only that, but there will be lots of water buffaloes lounging about in the mud and if you’re feeling adventurous enough, you can even try ride one. The photo opportunities will be endless.

Next, you will get to paddle a sampan (wooden fishing boat) along De Vong river and here you’ll have the opportunity to get your fishing skills on as you join local fishermen to catch fish using traditional traps. These too will be used for your lunch/dinner. But before your meal, you will make one last stop at a Japanese graveyard and learn about the historical connection between Hoi An and Japan.

For lunch/dinner, you will get to sit down with a lovely local family and cook with them using the ingredients we collected throughout the tour, all the while chatting about what the rural life is like, learning about their lifestyles, traditions and etiquette. By 11:30 AM / 6:30 PM, we will have you back to your accommodation safely. Not only will you have amazing memories and photographs to take back home, but your tummy will be satisfied too!

Drinks, and a delicious and healthy local lunch/dinner are included.

Please note that there is a 30% cancellation fee for any cancellation made less than 24 hours prior to the tour date since we have to book many services in advance. Otherwise, there is a 5% transaction fee for bookings that are canceled 24 hours prior to the departure in order to cover for transaction processing costs.

Wow! Lost for words. An absolute highlight of our trip to this amazing country and an all round amazing experience. My sister and I had the most amazing guides with Han and Leo. Never felt uneasy or worried as pillion passengers as they navigated our way on main roads, little paths and back streets and laneways. We spend from 7.30am pick up from hotel to return and 5.30pm. We had many stops along the way for refreshments, pottery village where we had a ball trying to make something that resembleda bowl. And were given little pottery figures to keep from our year of birth. We stopped at the lantern factory where we each got to make and keep a lantern with the expert help of one of the lovely workers. We stopped and tasted and picked fresh fruits to take to the waterfall with us. We arrived and after a little uphill and over rocks trek we arrived at “heaven on earth”. Just “WOW! Breathtaking and beautiful to swim before perching in the water on a rock and Han bringing the fruit to us to share. Sitting under the waterfall itself was amazing, akin to a very very strong massage and then some. Still amazing. Lunch at the local restaurant with lovely variety of food provided. Time to head back. Really didn’t want this day to end and would do it all again tomorrow and the next day and the next....... if I could. Back to Han and Leo, so friendly, warm young men and knowledgeable and interesting to talk to and listen to. Very good English also. Lots of laughs were had all around. Would highly recommend these men in particular and their company ONE TRIP. Will definitely be spreading the word about our day near and far. Thanks so much again Han and Leo.

During this trip I made a new friend - the buffalo Silk - he was amazing!!! I was helping locals with growing their vegetables which was so much fun and the boat during sunset - very beautiful. What I really enjoyed was how peaceful was everything in the village. My guide Trinh Quang Vinh told me a lot about farmer's life and I learnt a lot. I loved the bicycle experience, the food was amazing at a local family. Everybody was so nice and welcoming.

My girlfriend and I just finished “The Village Adventure” and all I can say is WOW what an experience. We were looking for a way to get out of the city and learn more about Vietnamese culture and decided what better way to do so than taking a tour through the village. This experience had everything: a friendly, English speaking tour guide (you rock Coco), a meet and greet with local farmers, face-to-face interaction with a water buffalo, a small boat ride, a delicious lunch and as many photo opportunities as possible! We really enjoyed spending the day with our guide and asking her everything from “what kind of music do you enjoy?” to “what Vietnamese dishes should we try while we’re here?” It was a blast sharing and comparing our cultural norms. She even helped plan some of our trip!Getting to interact with locals was a bonus! Their way of life was very humbling to me and I now have a better appreciation for the flavorful culture in Vietnam.10/10 awesome experience, would do this again in a heartbeat!
