The Experience

Escape momentarily from the busy city life, and see Hoi An through a different perspective as you explore the around the countryside on a bicycle and later, paddle along the De Vong river on a wooden sampan.

Your journey will be as authentic as it gets. Not only will you get to interact with local farmers and fishermen, and learn about their lives, but you will also get to do some farming and fishing yourself! Come experience the real beauty of Hoi An on this fun, adventurous and activity-filled tour!

Detailed itinerary

8:00 AM - 11:30 AM / 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM

You can opt for either the morning tour which begins at 08:00AM and ends at 11:30 AM or the evening tour that lasts from 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM.

You will be picked up by our guides at your accommodation and taken to the green, clean and picturesque Tra Que vegetable village where most of the vegetables and herbs you find in dishes served throughout Hoi An are grown. Here you can get your farming skills on and pick your own veggies - which will later be used for lunch/dinner. Don’t be afraid to get your hands muddy!

You will then get on a bicycle and ride through this tranquil village, past rice paddies, gardens and ponds and watch as the local farmers cultivate, care for and harvest their produce. Not only that, but there will be lots of water buffaloes lounging about in the mud and if you’re feeling adventurous enough, you can even try ride one. The photo opportunities will be endless.

Next, you will get to paddle a sampan (wooden fishing boat) along De Vong river and here you’ll have the opportunity to get your fishing skills on as you join local fishermen to catch fish using traditional traps. These too will be used for your lunch/dinner. But before your meal, you will make one last stop at a Japanese graveyard and learn about the historical connection between Hoi An and Japan.

For lunch/dinner, you will get to sit down with a lovely local family and cook with them using the ingredients we collected throughout the tour, all the while chatting about what the rural life is like, learning about their lifestyles, traditions and etiquette. By 11:30 AM / 7:00 PM, we will have you back to your accommodation safely. Not only will you have amazing memories and photographs to take back home, but your tummy will be satisfied too!

All-inclusive

Drinks, and a delicious and healthy local lunch/dinner are included.

Hy!

Luckily we've found this trip. It's always feels good to me, to know more about the region I stay. Our two tour guide were Xuyen and Trang. They knows a lot about the history & they also have a good sense of humor.

We had a great time on the village tour seeing some sights you wouldn't normally see wandering around by yourself. We visited the vegetable village and got to try our hand at watering a farmer's patch, got a ride on a water buffalo through the water, then biked through vegetables and rice paddies until we got to some shrimp farms and took a ride down the river in old boats. Great views and great opportunities to take photos! We finished off the tour with a homemade lunch at a family's house overlooking their green onions that was one of the best during our stay in Hoi An! Our hosts were a lot of fun and told us about life and culture in Vietnam. My one comment is that I thought we were going to fish on the river and cook the food we ate at lunch as was advertised. But otherwise, it was a great tour!

Food tour and local village tour was great. Our guides were very knowledgeable and fun to be around. Food tour included all the good local food you would not find by yourself though make sure you are very hungry as it's so much food (5 courses!). Local village tour included lovely cycle, boat trip and a ride on a buffalo! We would recommend both of these.
