Danang / Hoi An to Hue
Approx. 250km
Wake up bright and early for your 7:30 am pickup before we head out of the city on our epic adventure. We’ll follow the Cam Le river onto the open country roads before winding our way up mountains passes towards the ethnic hill tribe villages.
The historic Ho Chi Minh Trail takes us north into the mountains and more jungle-covered valleys, the A Shau Valley being our lunch stop. See if you can spot the famous Hamburger Hill where a very prominent battle took place during the war, proudly rising from the Laos border. The winding mountain passes will lead us down and towards the coastal roads, past giant and colorful tombs of the last emperors towards the ancient capital of Hue. End the day reflecting on all you’ve endured on the road, over a cold beer and sweeping views, enjoyed best from the rooftop pool of our hotel.
Hue to Danang / Hoi An
approx. 120km
Step back in time with a visit to the imperial citadel, once the home of the last emperors of Vietnam, it’s now a UNESCO world heritage site. Back on the bikes, you’ll soon be surrounded by endless rice paddies, and the lesser traveled, quiet country roads where you’ll see giant fishing nets across Tam Giang lagoon. A visit to a cemetery might sound odd, but the City of Ghosts, known as Vietnam’s most luxurious cemetery, is a sight to behold! A relaxed lunch on a nearby beach is just the thing needed to fuel up for the next exciting part of our journey: passing the pristine Lang Co bay and ascending the famous Hai Van Pass with its 21km of sweeping bends and breathtaking coastal views. After that adrenaline rush, it’s finally time to head back to base for a well deserved cold beer!
