The Experience

Hanoi is the birthplace of many delicious Vietnamese dishes, including the de-facto national dish, Pho. Join us on this unique and fulfilling journey as we navigate Hanoi’s street food-filled alleyways by motorbike. Make sure you come with an empty stomach, as we aim to please!

Detailed itinerary

5:30 PM - 9:30 PM

We will begin our tour exactly at 5:30 PM seeking Hanoi’s hidden gems for some grub to eat and some beers to chug. Your guide will tell you all you need to know about the food you get to enjoy on this culinary adventure, from their history and significance, to the ingredients and preparation. Don’t expect anything fancy! The places we have in mind are extremely local--you will be rubbing shoulders with other local diners while watching the chaotic traffic of scooters, cyclos and pedestrians as they pass by.

On the menu are some typical foods such as nem nướng, nem chua rán (grilled pork skewers) and phở cuốn (our national dish, but with a twist) to those a little more adventurous such as chả rươi (sandworm - yes, you read that right - sausages), and egg coffee. And of course, there will be craft beer!

Beyond enjoying the deliciously authentic Hanoian food, expect some sightseeing as you drive around lakes to catch sunsets, cross bridges, and snake through the beautiful Hanoi Old Quarter with lots of colonial buildings and other sights to see. Once the tour is over and you are full to the brim, we will drop you off at your accommodation for a good night’s sleep.

Note: While other modes of transportation are available, we highly recommend the motorbike option, as it is the most authentic way to really feel like a local. Make sure to let us know your food preferences or restrictions you may have (including if you’re on a vegan or vegetarian diet) so we can personalize your itinerary for the most yummy experience.

All costs, including those of the meals and drinks, are included in the price.

Please note that there is a 30% cancellation fee for any cancellation made less than 24 hours prior to the tour date since we have to book many services in advance. Otherwise, there is a 5% transaction fee for bookings that are canceled 24 hours prior to the departure in order to cover for transaction processing costs.

We did 2 evening food tours with One Trip. Hanoi with local foodies Tien and Xuri and Ho Chi Minh City with Chang and Khao. Both tours were amazing!! 200% recommend to anyone traveling to those cities. Our guides were all super personable and knowledgeable about the local food and culture. It was like we were exploring the city with a local friends. They made us feel really comfortable and welcomed. Amazing experience! Thank you One Trip!

I had the pleasure of going on an evening food tour with Onetrip during my stay in Hanoi, and this food tour is easily one of the highlights of my trip.Marie was my tour guide, and she was absolutely fantastic. Charismatic and energetic, Marie immediately helped me feel welcomed and at ease, and I felt like I was meeting up with an old friend for food and drinks. I could not have asked for a better company.Furthermore, Marie was extremely knowledgeable, and the depth of her knowledge can be seen in her explanation of the culture + history behind every single dishes that we tried (as well as the sights + landmarks that we saw while traveling from restaurant to restaurant). All in all, I can highly recommend Marie to anyone looking for a passionate guide to guide them through the best food + drinks that Hanoi has to offer. Lastly, everything that we ate during the food tour was delicious. From egg coffee to escargot, every single dish was a home run. Also, by eating at restaurants that one would unlikely find on Google or western tour guides, we ate like true Hanoians. Therefore, if you want to experience Hanoi food culture from the lens of a Hanoian, this is the tour for you.I had fallen in love with Vietnam during my travels throughout this beautiful country, and Onetrip's evening food tour has made me fall in love with Vietnam even more.

A must thing to do at Hanoi especially if you are a foodie and if this is your first time at Hanoi. Our awesome guides Tien and Kai were friendly, fun, knowledgeable, and very passionate. You're at a foreign country and you don't know where to go, what to do, and it's almost like you have good local friends who would take you to the best places - nothing really can beat that. They're taking you to places where locals gather and enjoy, including restaurants and street foods on the back of a motorbike so you can feel and taste Hanoi very first hand. Tien was so helpful that she shared a list of food (and restaurants) we should try and her recommendation was great. We are foodies and we've been to many countries and places to enjoy great food, from Michelin 3-star restaurants to street food vendors, and we truly enjoyed Ontrip food tour. It was very unique experience that you interact with these wonderful young people while enjoying food and culture of Hanoi. Thank you Tien/Kai for giving us happy memories!
