Ha Long Bay is one of Vietnam’s most popular and visited sites. And, unfortunately, most exploited by tourism too. Is there a way to escape the crowds?
What most don’t know is that this natural phenomenon consists of three sections, with Bai Tu Long Bay in the Northwest, Ha Long Bay in central and Lan Ha Bay in the south. Geologically, all three are almost identical which is why locals and tourists alike acknowledge it as a part of the vast Ha Long Bay zone. So if you’re not in it for the Ha Long Bay “brand” but care about the experience, we have something very special for you.
Lan Ha Bay, the southern part, has gradually gained popularity thanks to its unspoiled and magnificent natural beauty, and as people look for pristine destinations. Join Onetrip on a private adventure and experience this beautiful natural wonder that comprises of over 2,000 limestone karsts jutting out of emerald waters.
To create the very best adventure, your private guide and you will stave off the popular tourist path, and head on to explore the beautiful region of Lan Ha Bay. A day full of activities awaits!
You can choose to experience Lan Ha Bay in one day, or stay overnight. You also have the options of choosing a private car, or a shared minivan as your mode of transport to the bay and back.
We’ll start our day at 7:00 AM, with a breakfast stop at a local restaurant right after our guide picks you up at your accommodation. Here you will have some Pho - one of Vietnam’s must-try dishes. And you’re in luck: we found the very best for you.
After this breakfast we embark on a 3-hour scenic drive in a comfortable, air-conditioned car to Lan Ha Bay. Here, we will board a wooden cruise ship that will take us around the many limestone karsts. The views are spectacular, so make sure your camera is on full charge!
The rest of the day will be spent cruising to remote areas of the bay, such as floating and fishing villages, caves and islands, and in between these unique spotlights we’ll have lunch, go kayaking, swimming and of course, spend some time basking in the sun at the beach.
If you choose the same-day option, then we will head back to Hanoi. We will reach your accommodation around 8:00 PM. If you choose the overnight option, we will continue our trip and prepare for a night on the water.
After an excellent dinner with a spread of delicious dishes, we will spend a quiet night under the stars. Our cruise will be anchored in an isolated area of the bay, so you will fall asleep to the soft sound of water ripples and the slow swaying of the boat. It’s a perfect time to get lost in your thoughts.
Note: the cabins are basic, and they are not for travelers who require luxury. We think that this is the best way to experience the true essence of Lan Ha Bay.
