Lotus house situated at the right wall of Imperial City where you can find traces of the last Monarchy in Vietnam (1802 -1945). We redesigned the house to offer you convenient stay while ancient well, worshiping altar and mossy tiled roof are preserved. Lotus house is just 2 minutes to the Citadel, 4km to Thien Mu Pagoda, 2km to Railway station, Truong Tien bridge and Pedestrian zone. Local food is very easy to find and try around my house. Try banana pancakes, breakfast waffles at Cafe 51 Le Huan - previous guests said it was best breakfast ever. And Salt coffee at 142 Dang Thai Than - some of guests said it was life changing!

If you don't want to stay in South bank of Perfume River where is crowded with tourists, hotels and bars, then my house with tranquil and convenient location will make you enjoy Hue in a peaceful way.

Guest access

You can use kitchen during your stay, reading or drinking in front yard or in the ancient well area.

Interaction with guests

I and my wife live in another house which is not far away from Lotus house. It will be easy for us to come whenever you need.

The neighborhood

Our house is in a very nice location with very friendly people. You can see many food street sellers around Lotus house, it is very interesting to try, but please make sure that your stomach adapts to strange food.

Getting around

We are inside Citadel life, so it is easy for guests going to Imperial City within 2 minutes walking from the house. There are many local coffee shops, restaurant, eateries around this house. Please refer to our guidebook for some interesting places.

It is 15 minutes walking to Dong Ba market and taking 5 minutes more to get to Western food restaurants in Pham Ngu Lao str.,

It takes 15 minutes cycling from Lotus house to Thien Mu pagoda which was built in 1601.

Other things to note

Lotus house was built in 1930s with short and narrow doors which should be suitable for Vietnamese. We would love to get your attention!

Second thing is Lotus house sometimes suffers from high humidity in rainy season, it leads to sometimes the floor will be wet. However, just open the doors as often as possible, it is soon going dry.

Check In

Matthew’s place is in a great location to see the best that Hue has to offer. He has very good tips on dining and sightseeing in the area. The place has a great vibe and is well setup with everything one needs during travel.

Nice house as described and very close to the Imperial City. Do be warned that there are mosquitoes around (Matthew provides mosquito nets which are helpful at night) and there can be a lot of construction noise from next door as the neighbor makes bookcases and other items.

Historic home with unusual features. Some effort needs to be put into improving the facility and cleanliness of the kitchen.
