The neighborhood

This beautiful tree-lined avenue leads to quite many historic French mansions as well as the gracious Gothic North Gate Cathedral (Cua Bac), at the corner of Phan Dinh Phung and Nguyen Bieu streets. On the right side of the street stands the tall Imperial Citadel of Thang Long which is also famous historic sightseeing.

The famous Old Quarter is just 5-minutes-walk away. Arrive at Westlake in just 7 minutes ride. Flag tower of Hanoi and ancient Long Bien Bridge are also nearby. This location is basically in the heart of Hanoi, you can't choose anywhere better to start your journey here.

In front of your doorstep, there are huge choices of restaurants, street-food stalls, convenience stores, Vietnamese local designer stores, coffeeshops and bakery as well, in case when you are tired and just want to hang around in your PJ. (wearing PJ outside in Vietnam is absolutely normal)

Getting around

I would suggest going around on foot to get the most our of your experience here in Hanoi, there are a lots of things that can only be explored on foot.

Grab and taxi are also recommended options when you need to travel to other parts of the city.

Renting a motor-bike is also a good idea to explore Little Hanoi by yourselves.

Check In

The place was great! Everything was new and I liked the location much better then the other places I stayed in old town or near the opera house.

Excellent value and amazingly clean. I loved the location of this Airbnb. It was quiet at night and spacious! I appreciated the security of the doorman and I felt that the value for what you get is outstanding. If you’re ever in Hanoi, I hiiiighly recommend Mai’s place. It’s clean, quiet, spacious, and very comfortable. I slept like a baby every night.

I’d also recommend Coffee 54, right across the street from Dragon Pearl Hotel. Get their Coconut Coffee. It’s so delicious. I went like 2x every day.

Mai's place is wonderful and Mai truly deserves the superhost title. Stylish wood-decorated space with a tiny balcony, super hot water, ice-cold A/C and a room that stays cool even after you turn it off. The location is great, just north of the city center, but off on a side street so that you don't hear any traffic at all. Walking distance to most attractions is 0.5 to 1.5 kilometers, and Grab taxis are cheap ($1-2) getting back and forth. There's a beautiful park within a few hundred meters that's great for hanging out in the evening.

I accidentally missed my flight and immediately wrote Mai to see if my room was still available, which it was, and she quickly had it cleaned up so I could come back in. Overall she was super helpful and always responded within minutes to my questions during my stay (finding a massage place, food recommendations, where to find a print shop).

I would highly recommend this Airbnb to anyone coming to Hanoi who wants to be "near it all" but still have somewhere quiet and relaxed to stay.
