Check In

My host May was incredibly helpful in every possible way. I am visiting from mainland China and we use WeChat and she communicated with me through this app which was appreciated. She organized a driver with my name on a sign to pick me up at the airport and then had a friend welcome me in to the home once I arrived.

Because I didn’t purchase a Vietnamese SIM / phone card, I didn’t have a Vietnamese phone number, which meant I couldn’t use Grab. May assisted me with taxis until I had time to get my phone card. She really went above and beyond in every way!

The home is spread out over four floors with the fifth floor being the rooftop. There is a lot of space in my opinion and recommend this space for groups of at least two people. Lastly, the location was the best! Everything I could want in a five minute walk at most! Thank you, May!

Cao's place is comfortable and spacious- the kids enjoyed having their own private floor and bathroom. The beds are firm like we like them with nice bedding. Washing machine is a plus. Communication was prompt and helpful with frequent check in before we arrived and help with securing a taxi from the airport-- a terrific host! Our one concern is access to the space-- you have to walk through a long tunnel to get to the home. Not an alley, a tunnel, a little over 6 feet high and a good 1-2 minute walk. For those uncomfortable with small spaces it could be an issue. I also felt uncomfortable with the exposed wiring all through the tunnel. We never had a problem with safety and the tunnel is used by neighbors to the space but it was a bit disconcerting. On a positive note, being that far from the street blocks out the street noise of this very busy area of the city. We did have a rooster greet us in the morning and there is construction going on in the building next door but we always sleep with noise-canceling ear buds regardless of where we go. Life in a city! Bottom line, a great place, terrific host, and a true Old City Hanoi experience. (And yes, you quickly get used to crossing the small streets there with all the motorbikes)

Overall a good place. In typical Hanoi fashion, this place is down a long alley. It is lit, so not an issue. The building footprint is small, but it is spread over multiple floors. The place is functional, but not a ton of space to stretch out. As other reviews mention, the beds are a little on the uncomfortable side.

Check in was great. Communication was outstanding. We broke a cell phone and May provided a recommendation quickly. They also were helpful with luggage storage.

Location was convenient for the Old Town. Lastly, there was a minibar and prices were cheaper than Circle K.

Would stay here again.
