Check In

This is a real homestay! It's a room (with its own bathroom) in an actual family's house that they live in. Tinh, Binh, their two children and a set of grandparents all live in the house. If your schedules line up, you'll be able to share some meals with them. If you're around when they're snacking on fruit or something, they'll share it with you. They prepared us traditional breakfasts every morning. We only stayed a week, but they came to straighten up and give us fresh towels or sheets multiple times. Shampoo, toothpaste and even spare toothbrushes were provided. The shower was great, good water pressure, hot water available (we never needed it, though). The whole space was super clean. The room has a minifridge that we kept bottles of water in for more convenience. The house is located in the old city, across the river from the newer part of Hue, walking distance to the imperial citadel. Before we came to Hue, we had avoided using scooters or motorcycles everywhere else we went, but we determined that it was necessary while we stayed here. The old city lends itself far more to transit on wheels, and the scooter made it easier to visit temples and tombs on our own (we don't like tours). Tinh and Binh had scooters to rent to us at a good price, and everything worked out really well. They'll also wash your clothes for you at a good price. Tinh and Binh both speak English and the grandparents don't, but we got by just fine. They were all so nice, the grandmother showered us with fruit (including bananas from their own garden), and Tinh and Binh always answered our questions and gave us lots of good advice and recommendations and made sure we had the information we needed to have the best experience of Hue. If you want the most authentic experience of Hue possible, this is the place for you! Thanks, Tinh and Binh!

When I first arrived, I learned that the location I booked was the previous location they used for their Airbnb, and their new location was a few minutes walk away in their new home.

Their new location was beautiful but I wish their listing was listed prior to my reservation. I don’t have any photos of the new space but it was modern and clean. One drawback was that there were a lot of ants. They went into my backpack and were all over the bathroom, where they got into more of my belongings.

After a single night’s stay, the host transferred me to their other location across the city because there was going to be some construction happening at the location of my reservation. There was so miscommunication with when my luggage was going to be brought over and that effected my ability to pay for a service, since I didn’t have all my money with me... the other location was not like what I expected, as it was not as nice as I thought it would be...

Ideally, I would’ve liked to stay at one place instead of traveling to another location for my second night’s sleep.

What a treasure in Hue! Binh welcomed us at his beautiful home with a plate of fruit and sat down to show us where to visit and eat in the area, marking each spot on our (Hidden by Airbnb) map. He even told us the names of the dishes to order, and they were SO delicious. The room is simple and lovely and it’s located in such a wonderful area. Each morning we were greeted with coffee and a lovely simple homemade breakfast prepared by his mom. Communicating with Binh was super easy and always a pleasure. We absolutely loved our stay!
