ABOUT BUNKER

/ The love child of Los Angeles and Saigon. /

We're a three room bed and breakfast located in the laid-back neighborhood of Da Kao in District 1. Residing in a beautiful French colonial villa in a quiet alley, Bunker offers its guests not only a stylish and comfortable stay but insight into Saigon's growing urban culture. We’re an international team with deep roots in creative, interior design and the food and drink industries. We came together at Bunker to blend the classic spirit of Los Angeles with the fresh energy of Saigon.

Our rooms are named The Suite, The Writer's Loft and The Studio. All of them are listed on AirBnB. You can see them by going to my host profile.

YOUR ROOM - THE WRITER's LOFT:

The Writer's Loft is an attic room designed for any modern Graham Greene. White walls and muted finished wood create a relaxing, distraction-free atmosphere. During the day the wall-to-wall, hand-sanded desk is flooded with natural light from the skylight, giving you plenty of space to spread out and work. At the end of the day you can retreat into the cozy sleeping corner inspired by modern Japanese design.

The spacious shared bathroom with a rain shower is right down the stairs on the second floor, next to the common reading area with a comfy Chester sofa set.

THE BREAKFAST BAR

Our breakfast bar is tucked in the garden downstairs. We offer a straight off the block menu filled with honest LA comfort food. Our organic coffee is handpicked and custom blended by our longtime partner farm in Da Lat. We're coffee-serious people so we invested in state-of-the-art coffee equipment with a team of dedicated baristas. Our guests can enjoy 10% discount on all the items on the menu.

Guest access

You're welcome to enjoy all the facilities we provide. Please don't enter the kitchen, let us do the work for you.

Interaction with guests

During the opening hours of the bar, our young and friendly staffs would love to share the coolest things going on in the city with you.

The neighborhood

District 1 is not famous for being quiet. However, Da Kao, our neighborhood, provides an unique laid-back but up-and-coming vibe. Surrounded by many great places, whether you want traditional Vietnamese street food, hip cafés or bars, you can be there in less than 15 minutes walking.

It's also a nice 20 minute walk to Notre Dame, 10 minute walk to the Saigon Zoo & Museum of Vietnamese History and a 5 minute walk to the famous love temple that Obama visited last May.

Getting around

Taxi Cabs are really easy to hail when you're out on the main street. Grab Motor and Car (share-ride app) is also available, cheap and popular.

Only use Mai Linh or Vinasun branded taxi. They're the most reliable companies.

Walk distance to:

• The Saigon Botanical Garden ( 10 mins)

• The Notre Dame, Central Post Office & Independence Palace (15mins)

• The War Remnants Museum (20 mins)

• Ngoc Hoang Pagoda ( 5 mins)

• Thi Nghe Market (200 years old legacy market) (20 mins walk, 5 mins taxi)

Other things to note

In case of Bunker is booked up, we just opened a new beautiful space near-by called CAMP. It's just 5 minute away from Bunker. Please go to my host profile to check it out.

Nice, quiet neighborhood and a great common space with gummies and cookies. :)

Mike’s place was cozy and a great place to relax after walking in the humidity all day. The room was comfortable place to sleep and chill out. I was checked in by Viet who was helpful and friendly, he responded quickly to any queries I had.

Amazing recommendations; so many great local drink and food spots we would have never found otherwise! Highly recommend this stay!
